Katy ISD Nutrition and Food Services will be serving free breakfast and lunch for children throughout the summer with no sign-up or registration required.
The meals will be available for children 18 and under, as well as those 19 or older with a physical or mental disability who participate during the school year in a public or private nonprofit school program, said Thao Vo, associate director of policy and procurement for Katy ISD.
What you need to know
Select KISD campuses will offer the summer meals Mondays through Thursdays at six locations from late May through the end of July, officials announced in a May 28 news release.
Meals will not be served on Fridays, with the exception being Hutsell and Schmalz elementary schools May 29, according to the news release. Additionally, Paetow, Morton Ranch and Mayde Creek high schools will not hold meal services from June 29 through July 2.
The meals—which must be eaten inside the school’s cafeteria—are available to all children who live within Katy ISD boundaries, regardless of enrollment, district officials said.
Parents are also able to purchase a meal to eat with their children for $3.50 for breakfast and $6 for lunch.
Before you go
If any of the locations close due to inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances, Katy ISD will communicate that information to families through established channels, Vo said.
Families can also visit www.summerfood.org during closures to find other local meal sites.
