The Fort Bend County Library System announced two free educational programs for the community starting in August.

The library system will be hosting ESL Conversation Circles for individuals learning to speak English, as well as a series of free Introductory Hands-On Computer & Technology Classes for those looking to improve their computer skills, according to a news release.

For individuals seeking to practice English language and conversation skills, Fort Bend County Libraries is hosting ESL Conversation Circles at multiple libraries. These circles offer a relaxed and informal atmosphere where non-English speakers can gather and engage in English conversations on topics of their choice to practice communication skills. The program is open to the public, and no reservations are required.

The locations and timings for the ESL Conversation Circles are as follows:


Sugar Land Branch Library
  • Aug. 1, 8, 15, 22, 29: 10:15 a.m.-noon
  • Aug. 7: 6:30-8 p.m.
George Memorial Library
  • Aug. 2, 9, 16, 23, 30: 10-11 a.m.
Missouri City Branch Library
  • Aug. 2, 16: 10:30-11:30 a.m.
Sienna Branch Library
  • Aug. 3, 17: 10:30 a.m.-noon
Cinco Ranch Branch Library
  • Aug. 4, 11, 18: 2-3 p.m.
First Colony Branch Library
  • Aug. 8 and 22: 2 p.m.
Mission Bend Branch Library
  • Aug. 9, 23: 2-3 p.m.
Another detail

In addition to the ESL Conversation Circles, Fort Bend County Libraries will also offer a free Introductory Hands-On Computer & Technology Classes, according to the release. These classes will provide a hands-on introduction to basic computer and technology skills for those wishing to enhance their computer skills.

Due to limited seating, reservations are required. Interested participants can register online at the library's website or by calling the branch libraries. The schedule for free introductory computer and technology classes offered in August are listed below:
