Elijah Rising, a nonprofit headquartered in the Heights dedicated to ending sex trafficking in Houston, received a $130,000 donation in November from McNair Interests, a local private investment company.

McNair’s monetary donation allowed for the nonprofit to make improvements to its campus, located at 402 Teetshorn St., Houston, Elijah Rising’s Communications Director David Gamboa said.

McNair employees also visited the campus Nov. 3 and performed site work, including the construction of a custom well shed and the installation of 200 feet of water pipe, funded with the company's donations. McNair’s donation also went toward the installation of a commercial grade generator and propane tank for Elijah Rising’s well.

According to Elijah Rising, for the entire month of June, McNair created a matching donation campaign to which their employees donated.

Since its founding in 2012, Elijah Rising has reached an average of 700 sex trafficking victims each year. Elijah Rising also provides trauma-informed residential care to victims via the Elijah Rising Restoration Campus, which was built in 2019.

January is National Human Trafficking Prevention Month.

“We look forward to seeing the impact these contributions will make,” Gamboa said.
