Local nonprofit Houston Pets Alive! is now accepting appointments for low-cost veterinary services from pet owners in the general public with plans to officially start providing services Aug. 2.

Located at 2800 Antoine Drive, Ste. 2854, Houston, the nonprofit will offer services including physical exams, vaccinations, preventive services and microchipping, among others. Previously, Houston Pets Alive! offered services to pets in the nonprofit's programs, including pets taken from shelters and put in foster care. Under the expansion, the services will be made available to all cat and dog owners in the Greater Houston area, officials said.

Additionally, Houston Pets Alive! will be opening up its spay and neuter services to other rescue operations in Houston.

Citing Houston's severe stray animal crisis, Houston Pets Alive! officials said it is essential to provide affordable services to not only personal pets, but also to other rescue operations in Houston.

Founded in 2014, the nonprofit has a mission of saving the lives of at-risk dogs and cats and finding them loving homes. In addition to running the clinic, the nonprofit also partners with the city of Houston and the Harris County Animal Shelter on fostering and adoption.
