The Greater Houston LGBTQ Chamber of Commerce is hosting a food drive Dec. 10 to raise donations for LGBTQ seniors in need, according to a Nov. 3 announcement from the chamber.

Donations can be made at two drop-off locations. From 8 a.m.-noon, donations can be dropped off at SignatureCare ER, located at 1925 E. T C Jester Blvd., Houston. From 3-7 p.m., donations can be dropped off at Eureka Heights Brewery at 941 W. 18th St., Houston.

All donations to the chamber will then be passed on to the nonprofit Montrose Center for its holiday boxes, which are gathered every year for seniors.

Last year, the chamber's food drive helped the Montrose Center bring in the largest amount of food and funds in its history of running the drive, according a Nov. 3 press release. Donations also helped the center fill up multiple pantries and provide food after Winter Storm Uri hit in February, according to the release.

"It's incomprehensible that so many of our LGBTQ+ seniors, who have paved the way for the LGBTQ+ community, will not have food on their tables during the holidays," chamber President and CEO Tammi Wallace said in a statement. "Yet, this is a problem that is happening in our own backyard because so many LGBTQ+ seniors in our community face food insecurity."

A list of all the items being sought in the food drive can be found on the chamber's website. Those unable to donate food on the day of the food drive can donate via a virtual food drive as well.
