The Montrose location of Good Dog closed Nov. 22, owners Amalia Pferd and Danny Caballero announced.

After struggling to maintain the business amid the coronavirus pandemic, the couple decided not to renew the lease on the historic bungalow at 1312 W. Alabama St., Houston, that housed the restaurant.

“Words cannot express the gratitude we have for the Houston community who allowed us to keep both of our doors open and our staff employed through this pandemic,” Caballero said in a news release. “This decision comes with a heavy heart, but I want everyone to know we tried everything possible to keep our Montrose store open.”

The restaurant's Heights location at 903 Studewood St. remains open, and all Montrose employees were offered employment there, according to the release.

Guests who can show proof of a Montrose address in ZIP codes 77006, 77098 and 77019 can receive a 15% discount for the rest of 2020. 832-800-3647. www.gooddoghouston.com
