Houston officials approved a pair of projects that would improve drainage infrastructure and expand access to green space in District C.
What this means
Houston City Council approved a contract for $9.1 million April 8 to fund pavement, storm sewer and waterline improvements in the Roseland community. Streets for that project include:
- Oakley Street from Montrose Boulevard to Spur 527
- Woodrow Street from Montrose Boulevard to Spur 527
- Kyle Street from I-59 to Richmond Avenue
- Roseland Street from I-59 to Richmond Avenue
- Stanford Street from I-59 to Richmond Avenue
- Greeley Street from Spur 527 to Richmond Avenue
- Jack Street from Spur 527 to Richmond Avenue
Reconstruction will include removing and replacing pavements and curbs, driveways, sidewalks, wheelchair ramps, utilities and traffic control devices.
Community Impact reached out to council member Abbie Kamin's office regarding the timeline of the project, but did not hear back by press time.
Also of note
Council also approved a feasibility study for a trail along Renwick Drive. The agreement, which is between the city and Harris County, will look at the possibility of constructing a 0.8-mile trail on a Harris County Flood Control District easement on Renwick Drive, between Darnell Street and North Braeswood Boulevard.
Kamin said it would also look at opportunities to address drainage.
“Our office had submitted this project in partnership with the organization Neighborhoods to Trails, Southwest,” Kamin said. “And I’m thankful for [Harris County Precinct 4] Commissioner [Lesley] Briones for her support.”
One more thing
Precinct 4 will contribute $15,000 toward the study, and Kamin’s office will contribute $10,000 as the local match.
