In a Feb. 1 press release, officials with Houston Methodist Hospital announced the awarding of $6.8 million in grants through the hospital's Community Benefits Grant Program.

Of the 32 new awardees, 17 are located in Houston's inner loop, including:
  • Museum Park: Lone Star Circle of Care
  • Montrose: Avenue 360 Health & Wellness, Houston Area Women's Center, The Women's Home and Legacy Community Health (two grants)
  • Rice Military: The Council on Recovery and DePelchin Children's Center
  • Midtown: Catholic Charities and San Jose Clinic
  • Fourth Ward: Angel Reach, and The Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Houston
  • Near Northside: Santa Maria Hostel
  • Greater Eastwood: El Centro de Corazon
  • Denver Harbor: Vecino Health Centers
  • Downtown: Healthcare for the Homeless (two grants)
Over the last 30 years, Houston Methodist's Community Benefits Grant Program has provided $168 million in funding to 82 unique local charities, according to a press release.

“Access to high quality health care is one of many issues that our community faces, and this grant helps makes much-needed health care resources affordable and accessible," said Ryane Jackson, vice president of community benefits at Houston Methodist, in a statement. "I’m proud that we can continue to partner with local organizations focused on expanding the health and well-being of all Houstonians."
