A slate of new businesses recently opened or are preparing to open at the Lower Heights mixed-used district south of I-10 at Studemont Street, including the breakfast and lunch eatery First Watch and the cocktail and men's grooming concept Scissors & Scotch. Here is a roundup of the latest news.

  • First Watch officially opened to the public Oct. 10 in a 4,500-square-foot, first-floor corner suite in a retail building next to World of Sourdough and across the parking lot from Total Wine & More.   • Scissors & Scotch, which opened in September, can be found in the same building as First Watch, directly above the eatery on the second floor. The studio offers a membership program while also accepting walk-in clients for traditional barbering services as well as modern spa services.   • Officials with the Lower Heights District announced Oct. 19 that the Houston-based Thrive Drip Spa signed a lease at a new 25,000-square-foot retail building completed at the site this summer. The spa offers IV vitamin infusion therapy that can be customized to cater to needs surrounding health, performance and recovery. It will open in early 2023.   • Salon Lofts is expected to open in February or March in a 5,155-square-foot spot on the second floor of the retail building that will also house Thrive Drip Spa. The beauty salon offers hair, nail, skin and massage services. www.salonlofts.com
