Velocity Sim Racing Lounge has opened a motorsports-themed social racing destination in Houston.

The 5,000-square-foot entertainment venue features 16 state-of-the-art racing simulators, a full bar and kitchen, aesthetic glass garage doors and watch parties for racing events, according to a Feb. 20 news release on the opening.

Velocity was originally set to open in Sawyer Yards in January, as previously reported by Community Impact. Owner Viet Tran said in a statement he was proud of the work the his team did to bring Velocity to life.

"Whether you’re an avid racer, a racing newcomer or just looking for an exciting environment to enjoy a cocktail, we have something for everyone," Tran said in the release. "The goal has always been to build a community, and we are so excited to share Velocity with Houstonians."

What to expect


Velocity's immersive simulators are equipped with full motion systems, panoramic displays and platforms that react to each on-screen movement, per the release. Drivers can choose to drive virtual cars from brands such as Porsche and Lamborghini and race on world-famous tracks, including the Circuit of the Americas.

The venue offers a global, racing-themed food and drink menu, according to the release. Featured dishes include Japanese tsukune meatballs, made with teriyaki chicken and mashed garlic sweet potatoes; a French-inspired mushroom bechamel flatbread; and chicken diavolo taquitos.

Cocktails also celebrate legendary drivers, tracks and events. These include the Spicy Cafe Racer, a vodka-drink with vanilla, chocolate, espresso and chili; and the Pace Car, made with Remy Martin VSOP, cointreau, lemon and orange.
