Two local businesses are teaming up with Cy-Fair Helping Hands this month to support the nonprofit’s efforts to feed individuals and families in need. The organization relies on donations from area businesses, churches and members of the community.

Pho Houston is hosting a free tasting event Sept. 4 at 8552 Hwy. 6, Houston, at 5 and 7 p.m. The University of Houston’s executive chef will be serving Vietnamese-inspired dishes, such as pho brisket and bone marrow tamales, at no charge. A reservation is required, and attendees are encouraged to make monetary donations for Cy-Fair Helping Hands. www.facebook.com/phohouston

Mint Express Car Wash, which recently opened at 8640 Barker Cypress Road, Cypress, is hosting a food collection drive daily from 8 a.m.-7 p.m. through Sept. 13. Officials said their goal is to collect 10,000 nonperishable canned food items. www.facebook.com/mintexpress.carwash
