About two years after Kids Spot acquired several Spectrum of Hope locations throughout the Houston area, the company rebranded as MySpot in late August.

“We offer a comprehensive therapy approach across many different disciplines—applied behavior analysis therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, even music and nutrition,” said Hunter Alexander, an assistant clinical director with MySpot. “So our goal for MySpot is that we're kind of the spot for all of your therapeutic needs ... you don't have to outsource a lot of these separate therapies.”

Why it matters

Andrea Wilson, vice president of ABA at MySpot, said there’s a growing need for these services as awareness about autism and developmental disabilities grows.

Most therapy providers don’t accept children over the age of 8, but MySpot continues to serve clients into adulthood.

“We are priding ourselves on kind of being that one-stop shop for our clients and just making sure that they're able to access the care and the support that they need throughout their entire lifespan, and then also making sure we're there as a support for the families,” she said.

What’s next

While Kids Spot offered speech, physical, occupational and ABA therapy services, Wilson said MySpot is in the process of expanding its offerings.

The company will soon have diagnostic testing, home health nurses, and music and nutritional therapies, she said.
