MD Anderson Cancer Center recently opened a new facility in The Vintage area, MD Anderson officials confirmed via email Dec. 4.

Dubbed "MD Anderson Cancer Center Northwest Houston Surgical and Specialty Care," the new facility serves patients undergoing procedures that do not need an overnight stay or need a stay of up to 48 hours only.

The Northwest Houston team of MD Anderson physicians and care providers perform surgeries and procedures for the following conditions: breast cancer, gynecologic cancers, melanoma, urologic cancers and cancer-related pain.

"For more than 80 years, MD Anderson has provided an unparalleled level of cancer care. Now, patients in Northwest Houston, Cypress, Tomball and surrounding areas have an option for surgery and other procedures closer to home," the website reads.

The new health care facility is housed in the former location of First Texas Hospital.
