The Cy-Fair ISD board of trustees unanimously approved Dec. 13 the attendance boundaries for Elementary School No. 57 as previously recommended by administration. Residential codes Bridgeland Lakeland Bend, Bridgeland East and ParkLane Cypress Apartments will be rezoned from Wells Elementary School to Elementary School No. 57 starting in 2022-23. The third elementary school in master-planned community Bridgeland, Elementary School No. 57, is slated to open in August at 21211 Tuckerton Road, Cypress, and Cy-Fair ISD board members are set to vote on attendance boundaries for the new campus Dec. 13, according to the district’s Director of General Administration Kristi Giron.

Enrollment has already exceeded projections at Pope and Wells elementary schools with 1,110 and 1,645 students enrolled, respectively. The permanent capacity for each campus is 1,092 students.

The proposed boundary lines are contained within the current Wells attendance boundary—just west of Fry Road and north of the new Bridge Creek master-planned community. Three residential codes are included in the proposed zone: Bridgeland Lakeland Bend, ParkLane Cypress Apartments and Bridgeland East, Giron said.

“While no boundary decisions are easy, what is nice about this proposal is it only involves students that live in Bridgeland, and they will still attend an elementary school in Bridgeland with this proposal,” Giron said at the Nov. 4 board work session.

Giron said campus feeder systems, school capacities and enrollment projections, neighborhoods, major roads and waterways, community input and the goal to keep changes minimal are all taken into consideration during the process.

Students heading into fifth grade next school year who are affected by the boundary change can remain at Wells if their parents provide transportation. Giron said 107 students qualify for that transfer option.

The district is now accepting community feedback on the proposal. Additional information is available at www.cfisd.net, and all input will be provided in a written report to the board members leading up to the final vote. To submit input on the proposed boundary change, click here.
