Officials with Lone Star College System announced Dec. 2 that Dr. Seelpa Keshvala has been named the new president of the LSC-CyFair campus. She will be the school’s third president effective March 1.

In late October a search advisory committee interviewed eight semi-finalists before selecting three finalists in November.

The final candidates participated in meetings and open forums throughout November with the chancellor’s cabinet, community leaders, faculty, staff and students.

Keshvala has served as president of the Warsaw Campus of Ivy Tech Community College in Warsaw, Indiana, since March 2014. The college is the largest public postsecondary institution in Indiana and the largest singly accredited statewide community college system in the nation.

Prior to her role as president, she served as vice chancellor and executive dean.

Keshvala graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee where she earned a doctorate in urban education, a master’s in curriculum and instruction and a bachelor’s degree in elementary education.

“Dr. Keshvala’s educational background, work experiences and personality will be a welcome addition to the college and Lone Star College System,” Chancellor Stephen Head said.

Keshvala replaces Audre Levy, who served as president of LSC-CyFair since 2009. Levy retired in October after serving more than 40 years in education.

“I am excited at the opportunity to join Lone Star College and am honored to be selected to serve as the third president of Lone Star College-CyFair,” Keshvala said. “LSC plays a central role in ensuring access to higher education, providing a well-prepared workforce and growing a vibrant community. I look forward to working collaboratively with the talented faculty and staff at LSC-CyFair and building on its remarkable history.”
