In a June 16 statement, officials with FedEx confirmed an expansion effort is progressing at FedEx Ground in Cypress. The distribution hub opened at 8787 W. Grand Parkway N., Cypress in fall 2017.

Construction began last year on the 59,000-square-foot expansion and is expected to be completed in time for the holiday shipping season later this year, according to Allie Addoms, external senior communications specialist for FedEx Ground. Once this work is completed, the facility will span more than 1 million square feet.

“FedEx Ground is constantly evaluating the capacity needs of its network. Automation and technological enhancements are scheduled to be made to our facility on W. Grand Parkway N. in Cypress to effectively service the growing needs of our customers in the area,” Addoms said in an email.

Additional staffing needs have yet to be determined, but current job listings are posted here.

The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation has two separate projects filed at this site. The 59,000-square-foot addition is estimated to cost $28 million. Additional work is taking place for an estimated $17.2 million, including the installation of conveyor equipment and associated supports, platforms and electrical work in the existing parcel shipping ground hub, according to TDLR documents.
