Heading into 2017, developers with Lakeland Village Center—the first commercial retail space in the Bridgeland master-planned community—have provided more details on the types of tenants they hope to attract to fill out the remaining space.

Lakeland Village Center is 54 percent occupied with more than 38,000 square feet still available to rent, officials said. Rip Reynolds, vice president of leasing and sales for The Howard Hughes Corporation, said the developer would like to bring the following tenant types in 2017:

  1. Coffee shop

  2. Sandwich shop

  3. Fitness apparel store

  4. Boutique fitness studio

  5. Clothing boutique

  6. Mattress company

  7. Therapeutic massage center

  8. Nutrition and vitamin shop

  9. Home improvement store

  10. Pool supply retailer

  11. Shipping store

  12. Orthodontist

  13. Title company

  14. Cell phone carrier

Reynolds said the retail center’s traffic levels have met expectations since opening earlier this year, and he anticipates a significant increase in 2017 as more businesses open.

Along with the growth of Lakeland Village Center, he said residents are looking forward to Bridgeland High School, Wells Elementary School, Houston’s First Baptist Church and Parkland Village—Bridgeland’s newest residential neighborhood—opening in 2017.

“Our goal is to finish leasing tenant space in Lakeland Village Center in 2017,” he said. “We want Lakeland Village Center to be a community amenity, enjoyed by residents in Bridgeland and neighboring areas.”
