In its first meeting of 2026, the Jersey Village City Council will discuss traffic congestion along Jersey Drive as well as the upcoming May council member election.

At a glance

City Council on Jan. 12 will consider an ordinance amendment to create a limited “no parking” zone on Jersey Drive near Carol Fox Park.

Council members first discussed the matter at their Dec. 15 meeting, saying several residents expressed concern about limited travel width for cars when vehicles park on both sides of Jersey Drive.

During the Dec. 15 meeting, council directed city staff to edit the park’s location on Google Maps to redirect visitors to Acapulco Drive, which typically has more parking availability, but according to city documents, the edit is not yet public.

Council member Simon Hughes requested the item be reconsidered Jan. 12, suggesting the city add parking restrictions on Saturday and Sunday during peak visitation, according to agenda documents.

Also of note

City Council will discuss details regarding the May 2 general election, per the agenda. Three positions on the Jersey Village council are up for election this spring:
  • Place 1, currently held by council member Drew Wasson
  • Place 4, currently held by council member Connie Rossi
  • Place 5, currently held by council member Jennifer McCrea
The deadline for calling an election as well as filing for a place on the ballot is 5 p.m. Feb. 13.

One more thing

Council will also review proposed contracts for improvement projects at several wastewater lift stations as well as the Castlebridge Wastewater Treatment Plant, according to the agenda.

The sites were identified as needing repair during a 2023 inspection, per the city’s website. The total cost for the projects is approximately $7.72 million, which will be funded by the $20 million utility bond that voters approved in November, agenda documents show.
