Boys and Girls Country will host its largest annual community event, Spring Festival, on May 6 from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. at 18806 Roberts Road, Hockley. The event will feature classic midway games, a bucket raffle, and arts and crafts. In addition, armadillo races will take place from noon-3 p.m.

Admission and parking are free, but activity passes are $20 for age 5 and up and $5 for age 4 and under. The passes include full access to all activities. Individual activity booth tickets are also available for $1 each, requiring a range from two to 10 tickets.

Food will also be available, including barbecue, burgers, hot dogs, tacos and other classic carnival items. Prices vary depending on the item.

All proceeds will benefit Boys and Girls Country, a nonprofit founded by Tommy and Jean Robinson in 1971 to benefit wayward youths by providing a positive Christian home environment, education, vocational training and a sense of responsibility, helping nearly 1,600 children and young adults through their efforts.

This year, Boys and Girls Country celebrates 52 years of providing a home for children whose families are in crisis, and the organization continually strives to make its vision a reality for area youth.
