Where to find holiday parades, tree lightings and Christmas celebrations in Conroe, Montgomery, Willis

Here are nine events to note as the holiday season gets underway. Check out what is planned in Conroe, Montgomery and Willis in late November and December.

Nov. 20: Join the Turkey Trot

Participants can register for the city’s 17th annual 5K race at Carl Barton Jr. Park in Conroe. 8 a.m. (check-in begins), 9 a.m. (race begins). $25. 2500 S. Loop 336 E., Conroe. 936-522-3900. www.cityofconroe.org

Nov. 29: Kick off the holidays

Guests can enjoy complimentary hot cocoa, music and fire-juggling elves as the holidays kickoff at Pine Market in Woodforest. Guests can also take home ornaments as supplies last, and the event culminates with the lighting of a 30-foot tree. 5-7 p.m. Free. 2295 Woodforest Parkway N., Montgomery. www.woodforesttx.com


Nov. 30: See a tree lighting

Visitors can celebrate Conroe’s annual tree lighting with a performance by the local children’s choir and photo opportunities. Christmas on Main, a family event with Clydesdales and live music, immediately follows on Main, Simonton and Metcalf streets. 5:30 p.m. (choir), 6 p.m. (lighting ceremony). Free. Dec. 4: Watch a Christmas parade in Willis

The city of Willis will present its superhero-themed Christmas parade. The parade runs south on Campbell Street. Registration closes Nov. 30 for parade entries. 11 a.m. Free. Campbell Street, Willis. 936-856-4611. www.ci.willis.tx.us

Dec. 4: Light up the park in Montgomery

Families can kick off the holidays in Montgomery with an open mic holiday concert, photos with Santa, decorated lamp posts to view and the lighting of thousands of holiday lights. 6 p.m. Free. Cedar Brake Park, 900 Eva St., Montgomery. 936-597-6434. www.montgomerytexas.gov

Dec. 4: Shop for gifts in Conroe

Guests can shop from local small-business vendors for holiday gifts while sipping on wine, specialty cocktails or beer at the local event venue The She Shack. The Sip N Stroll will include vendors both indoors and outdoors. 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Free (admission). The She Shack, 905 W. Lewis St., Conroe. 936-522-8730. www.sheshacktx.com

Dec. 11: Join a singalong

The Montgomery County Choral Society will host a singalong for Handel’s “Messiah” at First Methodist Conroe. 7 p.m. $15 (senior, student admission), $20 (general admission). www.mcchoral.org

Dec. 11: Celebrate Christmas in Downtown Conroe

Residents can enjoy Conroe’s Toby Powell Christmas Celebration, including photos with Santa, shopping booths, inflatables, camel rides and a parade. Concessions and some activities will be available at an additional cost. The parade begins at 1 p.m. 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Free (admission, most activities). Dec. 11: Celebrate Christmas in Historic Montgomery

Residents can enjoy holiday activities in Montgomery, including a parade through the historic district that runs north on FM 149. The theme is “Let it Snow.” Guests can also shop in the holiday market that runs from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at 14420 Liberty St., Montgomery. The Montgomery Snow Party with a snow hill for children and the young at heart to enjoy runs from noon-5 p.m. at 777 Clepper St. Attendees can also tour historic homes by candlelight from 4-8 p.m. 10 a.m. (parade begins).
