From fresh local meat and honey to pickleball and biohacking, Conroe-Montgomery has a variety of businesses to visit. Here are some of the businesses highlighted in the Conroe/Montgomery edition of Community Impact in 2025.

1. Mariel's Meat Market

For the managers at Mariel’s Meat Market, seeing customers smile at the joy of getting a fresh cut of meat or being able to guide them toward a new taste is their favorite part. It’s also what they said makes the store stand out from others.2. Wild Honey Box

Wild Honey Box started with one hive and a passion for honey bees born from Kenny Reed’s desire to change his lifestyle after having a health scare in 1994.

“It was then that he said that [beekeeping] was what he was put on the earth to do,” Wendy Reed said.3. Space Gourmet Popcorn

Julie Long said her mission through Space City Gourmet Popcorn is to introduce gourmet popcorn as more than a holiday snack. The Houston Space City-themed popcorn shop opened in November 2024 in time for Thanksgiving, Long said. While popular during the holidays, the popcorn shop, based in Montgomery, offers over 30 flavors of popcorn at a time, with seasonally themed options throughout the year.4. Pickleball Hideout

Montgomery residents Karl and Stacy Woyton opened their own indoor pickleball court facility alongside their neighbors after meeting at their neighborhood outdoor pickleball court and bonding over the sport. Designed by former architect Stacy Woyton, Pickleball Hideout opened Dec. 8, 2023.5. Revive Biohacking

Looking for different ways to improve his health, Rick Ornelas created a business to offer biohacking methods to optimize health naturally through science and technology.

“I was reading [Lifespan by David Sinclair], and that's where the idea for Revive Biohacking was born,” Ornelas said. “I don't remember exactly the chapter I was reading but it was about some different modalities that can help to increase not only your lifespan but your health span to live a better quality of life at an older age.”6. E. Free's on Main

Erika Prothow opened E. Free's On Main in February 2024 to carry on her late mother's legacy of friendship and elegance and bring people together through tea. At E. Free’s, there are over 15 blends made with properties that are beneficial for conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease and skin concerns.
