Conroe Art League’s “Focus on Montgomery County” special art exhibit will have works focused on Montgomery County people and places and be on display throughout May. From oil paintings, colored pencil and watercolor, a variety of mediums will celebrate the history of Montgomery County.

Debra Riley, gallery manager for the Conroe Art League, said the exhibit has been almost a year in the making with fellow league member Judy Cook coming up with the idea. Along with Riley and Cook, artists being displayed include Beau Crump, Pam Markham, Diane Williams and Carol Berger.

“We are located in one of the historic buildings in downtown Conroe from 1912, and so [the theme] seemed to be a nice tie to our facility as well, and to our appreciation to the city of Conroe for allowing us to use the space,” Riley said.

Located at 127 Simonton St., the Conroe Art League’s Gallery at the Madeley building is open Tuesday through Saturday 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
