Multiple municipal bodies are conducting events this week in Sugar Land and Missouri City. See what residents should keep in mind now until Friday:

Monday

Early voting begins Early voting for the Sugar Land City Council and Fort Bend ISD elections begins Monday and lasts until May 2. Three candidates—Sean Burnett, Qaisar “Q” Imam and Carol McCutcheon—are running for the District 4 council seat being vacated by Harish Jajoo. On the school board, Position 1 trustee Jason Burdine faces L. Angelo DeCamps, Position 4 trustee Kristin Tassin faces Rodrigo Carreon and Shirley Rose-Gilliam, and Position 5 trustee KP George faces Lorena Duenas. Registered voters can cast their ballots at any of the county's voting centers, but only selected locations are open for early voting. Tuesday

Sugar Land City Council meeting City Council meets Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall, 2700 Town Center Blvd. N, Sugar Land. Agenda items include workshops on a solid waste contract for Greatwood and school zone traffic plans for Greatwood and New Territory once each community is annexed into the city in December. The school zones would be for Campbell, Dickinson, Brazos Bend and Walker Station elementary schools as well as for Sartartia Middle School, according to meeting documents.

Wednesday

State of the City Missouri City Held in partnership with the Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce, city officials provide a presentation of municipal milestones, including the city’s diversity, resident partnerships and economic development. 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. $35 (individuals), $40 (day of). Thursday

Missouri City Visitor Center groundbreaking Missouri City officials will mark the opening of a new city visitors center in the Community Center at 1522 Texas Parkway, Missouri City, at 10 a.m. Funded with hotel occupancy tax revenue, the visitors center is part of renovations made to the building over the past year, Mayor Allen Owen said. "It is part of our master plan to do some beautification," he said.

Friday
