Brazos County commissioners formally received results from the March primary election at their April 21 meeting, after a recount confirmed no changes to outcomes.

County Elections Administrator Trudy Hancock reported 32,143 ballots were cast, representing about 23% turnout among roughly 138,000 registered voters. This participation level was described as typical for a primary election.
The Republican primary recorded 18,057 votes, while the Democratic primary saw 14,086 ballots cast.
Some context
A recount in the Precinct 2 commissioner race required officials to review ballots from 30 precincts, including early voting, election day locations and mail-in ballots. Hancock said her team counted 7,117 ballots during the process, which required 110 staff hours and resulted in no change.
Kyle Greenwood won the March primary election for Precinct 2 commissioner by a 49.89% vote. The seat is currently held by Commissioner Chuck Konderla, who did not run for reelection.
Offering input
Hancock also addressed public complaints about alleged "ghost voters," telling commissioners her office follows strict state procedures for maintaining voter rolls and has not received documentation supporting those claims.
She noted removal of deceased voters can be delayed when records do not sufficiently match identifying information.

- $7.8 million hospital transfers: Commissioners approved a wire transfer of almost $780,000 tied to the state's Hospital Augmented Reimbursement Program, described as hospital funds passing through the county rather than taxpayer money. Judge Duane Peters said the same went for the $7 million transfer for the ATLIS health data interoperability program, which supports Medicaid hospital systems.
- District attorney's office relocation: Commissioners also passed a contract worth nearly $115,000 to support a feasibility study of relocating the district attorney's office into the current Adult Probation building when the departments transfer into the new courthouse annex.
