From June until Aug. 31, students from kindergarten through college can ride a variety of transit services with the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County for free this summer as long as they have a valid and active METRO Q fare card, according to officials. During the summer, officials said, no funds will be deducted from the Q fare card when students use it on the transit.

For kindergarten through high school students, they can obtain their discounted Q fare card online or in person at the following four METRO RideStore locations. Students will need to bring a class schedule and a report card:

  • Downtown Transit Center, 1900 Main St., Houston
  • Fannin South Transit Center, 1604 W. Bellfort Blvd., Houston
  • Main Street Square, 1001 Travis St., Houston
  • Northwest Transit Center, 7373 Old Katy Road, Houston
