The designs for planned improvements at West University Place’s Judson Park are slated to be presented to the West University Place City Council on Feb. 14.

Plans for the park include the addition of a GaGa Ball Pit, the installation of solar powered lights, a resurfacing of the site's existing tennis courts and the addition of pickleball lines, said Susan White, director of the West University Place Parks and Recreation Department.

White described the changes as a “facelift” to the existing amenities.

“You're going to go over there and go, ‘Man, this place is great,’” White said.

The $125,000 will come at no cost to West University Place taxpayers, according to White. The funds were provided by the nonprofit Friends of West U Parks, which is dedicated to raising funds for the city's parks.

Other upgrades will be made to the park’s water fountain and grill, White said. A timeline for the improvements has work starting July and finishing in August, following council approval.
