Feb. 24 will mark the five-year anniversary of when the Moody Center for the Arts opened its doors to the public on the Rice University campus. Located at 6100 Main St., Houston, the venue will celebrate its anniversary with three new exhibits that will be mounted over the course of 2022.

  • "Soundwaves:” a group show highlighting the intersection between art and music with major installations by Anri Sala, Jorinde Voigt, and Spencer Finch, among others. The exhibit launched Jan. 28 and will run through May 14.

  • A solo presentation by cross-disciplinary artist Baseera Khan addressing themes of race, gender, and cultural identity. The exhibit will run from June 3-Aug. 22.

  • “Urban Impressions:” a multisite project exploring concepts of the decentered modern city, featuring works by Julie Mehretu and Tiffany Chung, among others. The exhibit will run from Sept. 16-Dec. 16.

The Moody Center was launched in 2017 as a steward of public art and as a means to bridge the divide between the Rice University campus and the broader community. Other events in 2022, the dates of which are to be announced, will include a chamber opera about the life of Hilma af Klint, a performance of the Brooklyn-based The Knights ensemble, a performative history of Tierney Malone and an immersive dance work by Annie Arnoult’s Open Dance Project.
