Tittel has served in the city’s fire department for more than 25 years. He started as a firefighter, and moved up the ranks to captain, commander and fire chief.
According to the news release, under Tittel’s leadership and guidance, he strengthened the fire department’s operations, invested in modern equipment and training and delivered exceptional emergency services to residents and businesses alike.
“It has been a privilege and an honor to serve the city of Bellaire for 25 years,” Tittel said. “The decision to leave has not been an easy one, as my time here has been both personally meaningful and professionally rewarding. I wish to extend my sincere appreciation to the City of Bellaire and the steadfast support of the Bellaire Fire Department throughout my tenure. The city, staff and the community will always hold a special place in my heart.”
Tittel’s final day with the city of Bellaire will be Oct. 24.
“Chief Tittel’s leadership has left a lasting impact on our community, and we are grateful for his years of service,” Mayor Gus Pappas said. “He leaves with my deep appreciation for a job well done and my best wishes for his continued success and happiness.”
The city is currently searching for a fire chief to fill the position, according to a Sept. 29 job posting.

The ESD 48 Fire Department covers 29.54 square miles across the western portion of unincorporated Harris County, according to the department’s website. The general boundaries are Katy-Fort Bend Road to the west, Clay Road to the north, Westheimer Parkway to the south and Barker Road to the east.
The department is responsible for portions of I-10 and the Grand Parkway, creeks to the north and south of I-10, multiple mid-rise buildings, approximately 160,000 residents in subdivisions, numerous apartment complexes and more than 20 Katy ISD schools.
According to a Sept. 29 Facebook post from the ESD 48 Fire Department, Tittel will play a key role in planning, coordinating and executing the response to natural and man-made emergencies. Tittel will replace interim Fire Chief Vince Moreno.
