With Thanksgiving happening Nov. 24, several Greater Houston organizations are hosting food and supply drives in the coming weeks.

Bread of Life

The Houston nonprofit is embarking on its inaugural community food drive. Traditionally, they’ve relied on purchases and donations from the Houston Food Bank, but this year, they’re reaching out to the community, according to a news release.

Greater Houston LGBTQ Chamber of Commerce

The chamber’s 2023 holiday supply drive will benefit Tony’s Place, a resource center and community space focusing on LGBTQ+ youth.

Items requested:

  • Hygiene products: deodorant, sunscreen, chapstick, shampoo, conditioner, bonnets and durags
  • Clothing: belts, shoes, jackets, sweatshirts, undergarments
  • Food: bottled water, snacks
  • Products for the resource center: disposable plates, paper towels, toilet paper, first aid kits

Houston Humane Society Pet Pantry

Every bag of pet food donated allows the organization to serve hundreds of pets every week.

Northwest Assistance Ministries

Northwest Assistance Ministries is providing holiday meals to 1,400 families for Thanksgiving and December holidays.

The Cypress organization listed its 2023 food pantry needs for the upcoming holiday food distribution date.
