Chinese-American takeout restaurant The Rice Box is set to open its fourth Houston location in Rice Village on Jan. 21 at the cusp of Lunar New Year.

The Rice Box began as a red-colored food truck decked out in Chinese decorations that roamed the streets of Houston and became a staple among University of Houston students. Officials will open the doors to the fourth brick-and-mortar location within the Rice Village shopping center at 5 p.m. A variety of activities are scheduled to take place with the new year celebration, according to a restaurant official, including dragon dancers.

The restaurant—located at 5504 Morningside Dr., Houston—offers modern Chinese-American cuisine that includes classic dishes, such as General Tso, sesame chicken, pepper steak, and beef and broccoli. Some options can be made vegetarian or vegan upon request.

Guests can also pick rice and noodle dishes, such as fried rice noodle, chow fun and curry fried rice. Street food options include dumplings, salt and pepper tofu, and wings and rice. The restaurant serves a variety of nitrogen-infused teas.
