Officials with the popular gym chain announced April 27 that a new location is slated to open in Houston's Maplewood neighborhood this May.
What's different?
The new Maplewood location will include a Black Card Spa experience, and will be first Planet Fitness in Houston to offer:
- Red light saunas
- Polar dry plunge
- LED red light therapy booth
- Hyperice percussion massagers
- Full-leg compression boots
- Skin hydration and spray tan booth
These amenities will be offered alongside member benefits such as the HydroMassage loungers, massage chairs, tanning beds and CryoLounge, per the release.

“We’re seeing more people think about fitness as the full picture—how they move, how they recover and how they feel day to day,” said Abby Salenga, Marketing and Communications Manager at Houston Fitness Partners, a Planet Fitness franchise group. “Our new Maplewood location reflects that shift. It gives our members access to tools that help them take better care of their bodies without having to go anywhere else.”

The Maplewood club will also feature a dedicated turf area for functional training with power racks, a deadlift platform and plate-loaded options. The gym also includes a variety of strength, cardio and functional workout equipment.
Before you go
Planet Fitness will host a preview party May 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the community to receive an early look at the new space. The event will include vendors onsite, guided tours and presale rates.
