The details
Founder and Bellaire resident Savreet Singh said that while she worked in corporate finance for 20 years, she has always loved to create. For example, for her child's birthday party, she created a quilt and personalized bags for party guests using fabric.
Wanting to shift from corporate to pursue her creative passion, Singh decided to open Woven to help others creatively—whether they are beginners or experienced sewers.
“I want to introduce and encourage others to set aside time and find a hobby that creates useful and beautiful handmade items that can be appreciated and even passed down and gifted,” she said.
What they offer
The modern fabric and quilting store stocks high-quality fabric available either precut or by the yard, tools and resources to create bags, bag and quilt patterns, sewing notions, needlework and cross stitch opens and even gift items.
Woven will also have a dedicated workspace for hosting classes, workshops and events—such as birthday parties, kids camps and "Sip ’n Sews"—and will offer quilters on-site longarm quilting services for sewing together the layers of a quilt.
“This is my dream come true," Singh said. "I remember a few years ago telling a close friend that if I could do anything, I would want to open a quilt store that not only offered products, but more importantly, became a community shop. I want this place to be a welcoming space for all generations and experience levels—a place where it's fun to learn something new.”
What to expect
During their grand opening weekend, Woven will offer hourly in-store giveaways from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Those who sign up for the business’ newsletter will receive 10% off their first purchase and be entered into a grand prize drawing for a Woven gift card. All attendees at the grand opening will also receive a small gift.
