Despite reopening to two-way traffic in early October after road work was completed, the Park Avenue reconstruction project did not finish until after December. Comcast relocated overhead connections underground, and Texas New Mexico Power removed overhead lines and wood power poles. Afterwards, contractors finished sidewalks, landscaping, road striping and electrical tie-ins for new street lights. Miscellaneous tasks were still being completed in January. The project’s full scope included widening the roadway and reconstructing it from asphalt to concrete curb and gutter. The project is the first of three to enhance the aesthetics of downtown.
