The decision to build a sound wall along I-45 in League City to protect the Clear Creek Village neighborhood from highway noise has moved forward, as the city recently entered into an agreement with the state to build the wall.
What happened
League City City Council voted unanimously at its Feb. 24 meeting to enter into a memorandum of understanding with the Texas Department of Transportation to build the sound wall.
Architectural, engineering and construction costs for the wall, which will stretch from Clear Creek to FM 518, will be fully covered by TxDOT. However, according to city documents, the city will be expected to cover over $243,400 of the costs for:
- Acquiring the necessary right-of-way and construction easements
- Paying for any required utility adjustments and relocations
