League City approves allocating $240K for police training facility design phase

The 24-hour access facility, which will be located at the existing public safety building at 555 W. Walker St., will provide a city-owned space for the department to conduct trainings, eliminating the need to use facilities in other cities that may have limited availability or only operate during business hours, according to previous reporting by Community Impact.

According to city documents, trainings conducted at the facility will include:

• Active shooter response
• Building clearance
• Emergency medical response
• Traffic stops
• Defensive tactics
• Manual breaching and force-on-force exercises
• Cost to the city

The architectural firm will provide the city with a preliminary design for the project within 75 days after the notice to proceed, according to city documents.
