League City, in partnership with the Texas Department of Transportation, has activated several new traffic signals throughout the city, according to a League City April 22 press release.
The new signals are located at the following intersections:
- FM 96 at Hwy. 3
- Walker Street at FM 646
- Walker Street at Kessler’s Crossing
- Walker Street at Victory Lakes Drive
- FM 518 at Interurban Street
- FM 518 at Iowa Avenue
- FM 518 at Bay Area Boulevard
Officials said the new signals are mounted on poles as opposed to being attached to wires that dangle over the road, which makes them sturdier in a weather event.
Quote of note
“The benefit of these upgrades is to bring these signals to current standards, add turn lanes [including] left and right turns where needed [and] make the signals more resilient when we have storms,” public works manager Dave Tickell said in a video created by the city.
