Here are six places to keep an eye out for in 2026, as previously reported by Community Impact. This list is not comprehensive, and details are subject to change.

Desert Rose Beauty Co.

J. Miles Salon is relocating to a new location in Friendswood and will rebrand as Desert Rose Beauty Co., construction staff working on the new space said.

The last day in its current location will be Jan. 2, and when the salon reopens, it will have a new Western aesthetic, according to a social media post from J. Miles Salon.

Kido Preschool & DayCare

A new preschool and daycare will open near Shadow Creek Ranch, according to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

According to the filing, construction for the project will begin in February and is expected to be completed in August. The facility is a short commute from Pearland Town Center, and the new build is estimated to cost around $895,000. Parents can enroll children from the ages of six weeks to five years old.

Uptown Cheapskate, Kid to Kid

Resale shops Uptown Cheapskate and Kid to Kid are slated to open at the beginning of 2026, according to company representatives. The two resale shops are operated by the same parent company and will open side by side.

Uptown Cheapskate buys and sells on-trend styles for up to 70% off retail prices, including activewear, dresses, graphic T-shirts, jeans, jackets, purses, shoes, shorts, skirts and tops. Kid to Kid offers gently used children's clothing, shoes, toys, books and baby gear. The businesses are currently buying clothes and will begin selling soon.

Ambriza

Houston-based Ambriza Social Mexican Kitchen is slated to open by the second quarter of 2026, owner Julio Garcia said.

Starters will include street corn, empanadas and ceviche, among other items, and main courses feature fajitas, tacos, quesadillas, enchiladas and flautas. This will be the restaurant’s fourth location to open in the Greater Houston area, with three other locations in Katy, Cypress and in Houston along Louetta Road.

Gauchos Do Sul

Brazilian steakhouse Gauchos Do Sul is set to open its doors in Webster by the beginning of 2026, an employee with the business said.

Gauchos Do Sul offers unlimited cuts of steak, chicken, pork and lamb, as well as a salad bar and side dishes, according to the restaurant's website. This will be the fourth location to open in the Greater Houston area, with three other locations in Vintage Park, River Oaks and Katy, according to the restaurant's website.

Aztlan Boxing and Martial Arts

Aztlan Boxing and Martial Arts will open a second location in League City, the owner said.

The business offers training sessions for martial arts for adults and children. The first location is located on Washington Street in Houston, according to the business's social media page.
