As fall arrives in Houston, communities across the area are celebrating the season with pumpkin patches, fall festivals and Halloween events for all ages. From themed movie nights to trick-or-treating, here are eight ways to enjoy the fall season around Houston.
Houston Pumpkin Festival
Discovery Green is bringing back its annual pumpkin festival, featuring more than 50 pumpkins, the world’s largest bouncy pumpkin and a massive corn pit.

Sept. 20-Nov. 8, weekdays from 3-10 p.m., weekends from 10 a.m.-10 p.m.
The Houston Heights Association will host a Halloween Party at Donovan Park where residents can celebrate with family-friendly activities, live music and costume contests. The new park design will also be revealed during the event.
Local artisan and maker vendors will be on-site for this curated open-air, pop-up market. The event will feature a mix of handmade items, vintage finds and artisanal food, along with live music and activities.
The River Oaks District will host a spooktacular kids Halloween movie night under the stars. Guests can bring children in their favorite costumes and enjoy a family-friendly movie, sweet treats and festive fun.

St. Luke’s Pumpkin Patch
Throughout October, families can pick out a pumpkin at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, take festive family photos and support the church’s Pure Sound Youth Choir.

Westminster United Methodist Church is set to host fun, family events in the church’s pumpkin patch throughout October, including a festival, themed movie night, Sunday supper and trunk or treat.
The Houston Zoo is celebrating fall with a glowing pumpkin tunnel and 15-foot fall foliage arch, an eerie Ghost Town and seasonal treats for purchase such as apple fries and brownie churro fries. Guests are encouraged to wear family-friendly costumes.

Families can enjoy Houston’s only trick-or-treat nature trail, live animals, a Halloween market and pumpkin decorating at the Houston Arboretum’s fall-themed festival.
