At the axis of River Oaks and Uptown Houston, patrons can discover luxury destination restaurant Mack Allen’s, which officially celebrated its grand opening Sept. 14, officials confirmed.
The restaurant marks one of entrepreneur Mack McDonald’s latest feats in the fine dining scene.
On the menu
Set inside a dramatic, design-forward venue measuring 16,000 square feet, Mack Allen’s serves patrons an elevated version of American cuisine. The menu, crafted by executive chef Carlos Andrade and regional chef Manuel Viveros, boasts prime steaks and Australian wagyu as its specialties, in addition to seafood and other globally inspired preparations, according to a news release.
Accompanying its basic restaurant service, Mack Allen’s dedicated sushi program offers fresh oysters, Petrossian caviar service, crudos, specialty rolls, nigiri and sashimi.
Mack Allen’s food options are complemented by a 1,000-bottle wine collection and a robust spirits program overseen by Wine Director Anthony Salazar, whose background includes Michelin-starred restaurant concepts Eleven Madison Park, Nōksu and March, per the release.
The raw bar stands near the restaurant’s featured outdoor courtyard, which incorporates dozens of trees and plant species into a thoughtfully designed garden oasis. Indoors, Mack Allen’s additionally offers three private dining rooms, each space featuring different aesthetics and accommodating different group sizes.

The restaurant concept was born from McDonald’s vision to create a space that could transition seamlessly between intimate dinners, business meetings and other celebrations. At its core, Mack Allen’s seeks to provide guests with a memorable dining experience equipped with premium eats and hospitality.
“My goal was to create the kind of restaurant that becomes part of people’s lives. A place where you can celebrate a milestone, close a deal, enjoy an incredible meal with friends or simply have a great night out,” McDonald said via news release. “We’ve taken the spirit of the classic steakhouse and expanded it with exceptional seafood, sushi and a raw bar, all within a setting that feels distinctly our own.”
