Montrose wants residents to participate in mini-murals survey

Montrose leaders want to hear from residents about what themes they would like to see on a series of mini-murals throughout the neighborhood.

The Montrose Redevelopment Authority and Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone 27 are partnering with Up Art Studio through Fresh Arts to develop a series of five mini-murals to be installed on utility boxes throughout Montrose. 

The MRA is asking residents to help determine the themes for the installations. 

The survey asks participants to rank themes from most to least exciting. Themes include: 

• Neighborhood history 

• Diversity 

• Houston pride

• Local arts and music

• Neighborhood pride

• Local legends and stories 

• Nature

The survey also leaves space for residents to talk about a specific theme they would like to see honored in a mini-mural. 

Up Art Studio is a public art and creative placemaking consulting firm that commissions local and national artists for public art and murals. 

Keep in mind

The survey will be live through Oct. 6, and after the survey period ends, all input will be compiled and submitted to the city of Houston for final review and approval.
