July 3

Plano band performs patriotic pops concert

The Plano Community Band will perform a patriotic-themed show on the eve of July Fourth. The band will perform classics such as “American Flourish,” “The Gallant Seventh,” “The Armed Forces Salute” and “America the Beautiful.” The Plano Community Band holds regular free performances in Plano. July 4

Plano Lions Day parade

The Plano Lions Club will host its annual Independence Day parade starting at the Plano ISD Administration Building. The parade will travel west on 15th Street, north on Independence Parkway, east on Parkhaven Boulevard and will end in the Plano Senior High School parking lot. The event will include flags, floats, marching bands, drill and cheer teams and more. The Lions Club expects 50-60 businesses and organizations will participate in the parade. 9-11 a.m. Free. Worth the trip: Frisco Freedom Fest

As part of the Independence Day festivities, Frisco Freedom Fest includes a variety of activities. Taste of Frisco offers food from local restaurants and vendors. Party in the Plaza will include live entertainment, children’s activities, games and the Hometown Hero Exhibit, which features the men and women of Frisco’s police and fire departments. The festivities conclude with a soccer match at 8 p.m. between FC Dallas and DC United followed by a fireworks show. The event begins at 4 p.m. Free admission. Texas Pool to host Independence Day party

The Texas Pool in Plano will hold an Independence Day party July 4. The day will include hot dogs fresh from the grill, pool games and more. The Texas Pool snack bar will also be open, and guests are welcome to bring coolers with food and nonalcoholic beverages. Noon-6 p.m. $10 per person, $30 per family, free for veterans and active-duty personnel with military ID. 972-881-8392. www.texaspool.org
