With severe weather predicted for North Texas on April 17, activities and local facilities are closing early. At 4 p.m., the city of Southlake closed all city offices, the library and the Champions Club. All city meetings and recreational activities have been canceled as well. At 5 p.m., the city of Grapevine closed the city library and The REC of Grapevine. All city-sponsored events for April 17 have been canceled. Starting at 4 p.m., Carroll ISD canceled all afternoon and evening activities for April 17. Offices and campuses closed to allow drivers to get home before the weather became severe. Grapevine-Colleyville ISD followed with events canceled after 4:30 p.m. The National Weather Service said during the late afternoon and evening, the North Texas area could be at risk of severe storms bringing large hail, high-speed winds and possibly tornadoes.
