Southlake Council swears in Terrell, Morris

The Southlake City Council on Wednesday approved the May 12 election results from Tarrant and Denton counties, swearing in incumbents for mayor and Place 2.

According to official tallies, incumbent Carolyn Morris, who received a total 1,496 votes — only 154 votes more than her challenger, was declared the City Council Place 2 winner.

"I feel very excited to be back to work for the City of Southlake," she said. "Serving the residents of Southlake is my No. 1 goal."

Incumbent Mayor John Terrell ran unopposed and received a total 2,301 votes, according to official results.

"I'm just very pleased to continue serving the city," he said. "I look forward to working on many exciting things coming in the next three years and I love working with this council."

Place 2 candidate Greg Standerfer received a total 1,342 votes, according to official tallies.

A total of 2,856 ballots were collected from both Tarrant and Denton counties. According to the city, only 7.04 percent of voters turned out for Denton County and only 15.66 percent of voters turned out in Tarrant County.
