Sen. Davis launches campaign for governor

The Fort Worth Democrat announced her candidacy in Haltom City on Oct. 3.
If she wins the nomination, Davis likely will face Republican Greg Abbott, the state attorney general, in the November 2014 general election.
Davis has been a state senator since 2009.
Her famous filibuster in pink running shoes was an effort to stop a bill that restricted abortion clinics and banned most abortions after 20 weeks. It eventually passed, but Davis wound up on the cover of Vogue and in the national spotlight.
