Fate of Palmeiro land tract inches closer

The intent was to buy the land at a good price and get it back into the private sector, said assistant city manager Jennifer Hibbs.
City council approved purchase of the land for $29.5 million on Dec. 17.
A feasibility study needs to happen before anything can be done, as well as development of a master plan, she added.
Applications for the study will be accepted for about another month and the study should take some 60 days to complete, Hibbs said. "So about 90 to 100 days," she said for the next phase of the process to begin.
Usage of the land will be in line with the vision of the city, Hibbs said. "Retail, hospitality and tourism."
When the study is complete, there should be no shortage of interested businesses, said Grapevine City Manager Bruno Rumbelow at a Jan. 22 meeting.
"People have been beating our door," he said.
