Council honors Muller for two decades of public service to Southlake community

Since becoming a Southlake resident in 1983, Muller served on the City Council; the Parks and Recreation Board; the 2030 Planning Committee; the Texas High Speed Rail and Transportation Committee; and volunteered with various community organizations including the Southlake Police Department, Southlake Fire Department and Community Emergency Response Team.

To a standing ovation, Mayor John Terrell presented Muller with a plaque commemorating her efforts in serving the community.

City Manager Shana Yelverton then presented a number of gifts to Muller on behalf of the city's staff.

Those gifts included an engraved memory box of notes from staff members, a service pin, and a plaque with a photo of Southlake Town Hall and a key to the city.

Muller was invited to speak before the council and thanked her neighbors, friends, family and fellow members of the council.

"What a privilege to have my fingerprints on a lot of documents in this city over the years," Muller said. "I send my blessings on all of you, and I wish you the best. And of course you all will see me around."

Councilman Martin Schelling, who was defeated by Shahid Shafi in the election for the Place 1 seat, was also recognized at the council meeting but was not present.

A reception followed the council's recognition to allow for the public and Muller's peers to honor her work.
