After several months of planning and anticipation, the city of Colleyville hosted the first public workshop regarding its comprehensive plan on April 22 that used public involvement to help city officials begin to shape the future of the city.
Dozens of round tables topped with city maps, markers and electronic clickers filled the Colleyville Center meeting room and people filled nearly every table. Standing boards lined the back half of the room that displayed various maps of city land use plans and neighborhoods and citizens were also encouraged to post sticky notes with feedback regarding what they would like to see addressed in their neighborhoods.
Jim Carrillo of Halff Associates, the lead consultant for the city's planning process, kicked off the meeting with a presentation that explained the process of the public workshops, recapped the 2013 citizen's survey results and presented a market overview for the city.
Carillo said the citizen's survey garnered answers from 1,400 Colleyville residents and recorded a 98 percent community satisfaction rate, something that Carillo said he had never seen before.
