The Texas Department of Transportation's work to reconstruct SH 26 in Colleyville continues to undergo discussion after City Council heard design updates on the four proposed project phases in a work session June 24.
Phase 1, which includes the section of road from Brumlow/Pool Road to John McCain Road, is already in progress, and is expected to be complete in spring 2015, said Jeremy Hutt, city engineer for Colleyville.
The contractor has completed work on the majority of northbound SH 26 lanes and commercial driveways. Crosswalks are being installed and the city is coordinating with TxDOT to install LED backlit street signs. A traffic switch is set July 18.
Phase II from Hall-Johnson Road to Brown Trail is currently in the design phase that would include options of a four-lane road, wider median and improved aesthetics of the corridor.
