Colleyville City Council discusses SH 26 design update

Through monthly coordination with North Central Texas Council of Governments, TxDOT, and city and county staff, design and utility relocation is expected to continue on schedule that allows a December 2014 TxDOT bidding. Construction for phase II is expected in early 2015 and will take 24–36 months.

Both phase III, from John McCain Road to Hall-Johnson Road, and phase IV, from Brown Trail to southern city limits, have not yet been approved to start design by City Council. Phase III is estimated to cost $13 million, but does not have additional funding aside from committed Tarrant County funds that amount to $1 million.

A cost for phase IV has not yet been estimated. City Council is still working through ways to receive funding.

"It's a matter of choices. We don't have volumes and volumes of cash coming in so we have to look at other creative mechanisms if we want to be able to leverage projects," Mayor David Kelly said. "It's about finding the best value for the community that allows you to do other projects."

During the work session, City Council also voted to have the next work session for the Glade Road Project at 6 p.m. June 30.
