Grapevine to add Microland
A new amusement park expected to open in Grapevine by 2015 will have miniature trains that visitors can operate themselves, a tiny faux Mt. Rushmore and bonsai gardens.
Microland America is billing itself as the "world's first all-natural miniature themed entertainment attraction," according to a presentation to the City Council in October.
The park will have a 12,675-square-foot building and a 1-acre botanical garden on 4 acres at 2451 W. Grapevine Mills Circle.
The features planned include a "museum quality" natural exhibit with miniature railroads, miniature botanicals and bonsai; a retail gift shop; event and community rooms for birthday parties and corporate events; and an entertainment area with interactive activities for children, according to a letter to the city from Betts Hoover, president of Microland America.
