2. Construction on TEX Rail slated to begin in July

In June, Fort Worth Transportation Authority officials told Grapevine City Council that construction on TEX Rail, a 27-mile commuter rail line, would begin in July. TEX Rail is expected to be ready for passengers in late 2018. Published: June 15

4. Grapevine approves $330 million resort and water park

In August, Grapevine City Council approved an incentive package for Stand Rock Hospitality to build a resort and water park on 33 acres. The incentive package allows Stand Rock Hospitality to build Phase 1 of a 1,020-room resort that will include 190,000 square feet of entertainment space including indoor and outdoor water parks, an arcade, mini-golf, laser tag, rock climbing, spa, multiple dining outlets and meeting space. Future phases of construction will add 200 vacation ownership hotel condominium units, 400 guest suites and a waterpark expansion for total project cost of approximately $330 million. 5. No Central Market coming to Grapevine

In September, H-E-B/Central Market purchased six Sun Fresh Market Stores in the Dallas-Fort Worth Area, including one on William D. Tate Avenue in Grapevine. For months Grapevine residents hoped that the company would turn the shuttered grocery store into a H-E-B. However, Central Market officials said they will most likely sell or lease the location.
